Short answer
After Yamato’s same-day cutoff, its airport FAQ says delivery is the next day or later. Ask the counter for the available date before paying. If you need the bag tonight, keep it with you and use confirmed hotel storage, staffed storage or a suitable locker. Do not assume a different counter or carrier can still deliver it today.
Do this now
- 1Ask which deadline you missed.
Confirm the service, destination and current acceptance status at the counter. Counter opening hours are not the same as its dispatch cutoff.
- 2Decide when you next need the contents.
If you need the suitcase tonight, do not send it on a later delivery service. Keep essentials with you.
- 3Confirm the next available arrival date.
If later delivery works, check that the destination will receive it and that you will still be there.
- 4Use storage if you need your hands free now.
Ask your hotel first, then check a staffed storage location or a locker that fits. Confirm collection access before leaving the bag.
Tomorrow or later is acceptable
Yamato FAQ 3322 explicitly says a missed same-day cutoff means next-day or later delivery. The actual date depends on the route and acceptance time; ask the counter rather than treating tomorrow as a guarantee.
Confirm the hotel can receive the later delivery. If you are leaving that hotel before the suitcase would arrive, settle a different receiving plan before shipping.
You need the bag out of your hands now
Delivery and storage solve different problems. Storage keeps the suitcase at the drop-off location for collection; it does not move it to your hotel. Ask your booked hotel whether it will hold it, or check a staffed location or available locker.
Choose a place you can return to before it closes. If the stay will span several days, check the storage period rather than assuming a same-day option permits overnight storage.
Check the exact airport or station counter
Yamato’s current airport page lists same-day drop-off by 11:00 am at Haneda, and by 9:50 am at Narita Terminal 3 or 10:30 am at Terminals 1 and 2. Destination restrictions also apply. These are service-specific examples, not nationwide deadlines.
For station services and other counters, Yamato says cutoff and delivery times vary by office. Check the official service page and the counter handling your route.
If that fails
Keep the suitcase with you while you find a storage location that confirms it can accept the bag. If none is available, adjust your plans around carrying it. There is no verified alternative-carrier same-day promise in this guide.
If you need a paid storage fallback, check a specific ecbo cloak listing for availability, opening hours, bag conditions and collection time before booking. This is a normal non-affiliate link. Do not assume a storage address also accepts courier deliveries.
What not to do
Do not confuse an open counter with an available same-day dispatch. Do not ship essentials you need tonight on a next-day service.
Sending luggage TO your departure airport has a different deadline. Use the outbound-airport guide before relying on delivery for a flight.
